Victor Prosyanyuk, general director of Firma Concor Ltd. and his partner Andrey Silashin have never been engaged in any other business except in production of soft contact lenses. Only time they have arranged a special trading deal - in 1991 they have resold a batch of cameras to buy the first lathe. Prosyanyuk and Silashin are engineers - optics by formation, at that time they worked at the Vologda optic-mechanical factory. Mr. Prosyanyuk needed to repair equipment in the City Laboratory of contact correction of sight. Casually he has learned that turn of the people who wish to pick up «the second eyes» is painted for two years. Having amazed with such demand the engineer has solved: there is my chance. Mr. Prosyanyuk has left from the factory and carried away with him his friend. Partners have got the Soviet lathe, rented a room in a railway hospital. Local ophthalmologists were their first clients.
Some later they received the first order not from Vologda; the general director of Firma Concor Ltd. has started to dispatch his agents outside the region. Director of the Moscow representation Michael Glavatskih remembers he took two bags of lenses and went away for one and a half month on business for eight - ten cities to look for buyers.
1993 Prosyanyuk and Silashin have earned enough to establish good English equipment and construct their own shop. By 1998 the company sold approximately 3000 lenses per month. Strong devaluation of rouble suit Mr. Prosyanyuk well. Import lenses have raised in price five times as much, lenses Concor - some rubles. 1998 Mr. Prosyanyuk has bought a new lathe and increased volume of manufacture up to 15000 lenses per month. He sold his lenses to medical optics and clinics not only from Russia but also from Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Bulgaria.
